Mark E. Hodges, current Sheriff of Whitley County  has been a life long resident and graduate of Whitko High School starting his first term January 1, 2007.

Sheriff Hodges spent 26 years as an Indiana State Trooper serving as an under cover narcotics officer, Trooper, Detective and Master trooper.

As Sheriff of Whitley County Sheriff Hodges is responsible for the operations of the jail, commissary and meals for the persons incarcerated in the jail, bonds for prisoner release, maintenance of the jail and surrounding property, seeing that all civil process papers are delivered, conduct Sheriff’s Sales and oversees court house security.

Including Deputies, Confinement Officers and Communications Officers, the Sheriff oversees over 40 employees and medical staff.
